The Temple
The temple is situated about 19kms from Kollam and about 50 kms from Trivendram City at a village town called Kalluvathukal on the National Highway 47 in Kerala State, India.
The temple is dedicated to Swami Ayyappam and uniquely he is consecrated with his parents Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu (in the form of Mohini) on his sides. It is the only known temple site for such an arrangement of the dieties. Other dieties in the main temple are Lord Ganesha, Lord Muruga and Devi Amma. Also included are Ananda, Eleechi Bhagavan, Yogeeswar and Brahma Ratchasar at the temple perimeter..
The temple's history can be traced back to more than 1700 years but the current reconstruction was carried out 10 years ago.
Special poojas and Bhagawan's dharsanam is normally available on Saturday evenings while Sri Velli poojas done in the morning. Temple is open everyday from 5.30am to 8 pm. Its a blessing in itself to be able to visit this temple.
